U.S. MANUFACTURING
TAKTL stands in a category of its own in UHPC manufacturing. With our team of researchers and designers, we developed the first A|UHPC casting operation of its kind with a sole focus on architectural facade elements. Our automated manufacturing process has been built around serving and inspiring the building envelope market since the company’s R+D beginnings over 15 years ago. Learn more about our unique manufacturing story below.

TAKTL is the only A|UHPC on the market that is made entirely in the United States starting with regionally sourced raw materials. Regional sourcing means that over 90% of the mineral raw materials in TAKTL facade elements come from within 500 miles of our Pittsburgh plant. We cast, cure, cut, drill and ship all of our panels from Pennsylvania without third-party processing or UHPC ready-mixes sourced from abroad.
Consistency, quality, and growth were our first goals with TAKTL’s proprietary automated manufacturing strategy, and we have been building on them since the beginning. TAKTL panels are cast in large batches into open-backed molds before being cured, cut, and processed for each project. Automation extends beyond casting into finishing, where our 5-axis saws run on yield optimization software to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.

TAKTL manufacturing personnel can easily interface with our design, project delivery, and quality teams, promoting a cohesive approach to our work and better project outcomes. If a project needs a unique edge preparation, perforation pattern, or corner angle, our design team can collaborate directly with the manufacturing team to strategize on successful delivery well in advance. If a contractor needs site support, a field visitor from TAKTL will have a fully informed view of the project.
With any manufacturing operation, possible improvements can be identified almost daily. The difference with TAKTL is that we have the integration to be able to implement them quickly. Decades of fabrication experience inform the changes we make to our process. Our designers are not only architects, but machine specialists – TAKTL doesn’t just make TAKTL panels, we make the machines that make TAKTL panels.

A third-party certified Quality Management System guides the monitoring and continuous improvement of products and processes. Raw materials and finished panels are rigorously inspected and tested for color, dimensional tolerances, and consistency. TAKTL sees quality management not just as a series of data points and product testing records, but as a holistic core value of our organization. Corporate Quality extends to customer communication, installer support, staff training, and internal team building.
The TAKTL Pittsburgh operation is a model for future plants. Our core focus on local sourcing, vertical integration, and regional delivery of beautiful, durable A|UHPC facades is no coincidence – this cluster of expertise and organizational values is able to be exported to other regions, and TAKTL’s A|UHPC mix designs can be altered to incorporate raw materials local to future manufacturing facilities.
